The Trails Working Group is the multi-agency group established by the City Manager in 1990 to direct and coordinate development, operation and maintenance of the River’s Edge Trail. The group meets monthly to track on-going projects.

City of Great Falls Planning Office plans new trail and bike/pedestrian facilities and takes the lead responsibility for managing and executing state and federal construction contracts, processing trail easements and coordinating agency and volunteer improvements and extensions to the on-street and off-street systems. Region 4, Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks operates and manages portions of the trail that pass through Giant Springs Heritage State Park and PPL Montana lands on the North and South shores and Black Eagle Memorial Island.
